I hope you have been able to find time to read the August GHP President’s blog, but just in case can I particularly bring to your attention to the section on Fair Pay for the NHS: “GHP represents pharmacists at the Unite national health committee and was in total agreement with our colleagues from other professions that the 3% on offer will not address the large real terms decrease in pay since 2010, and do very little to staunch the escalating ‘recruitment and retention’ crisis across the NHS”. We have all been through such a lot in the last 18 months and many pharmacists and other NHS staff are exhausted, but the reality is that to make the Government think again we will have to consider some form of protest or action (whilst keeping patients safe) – hence the consultative ballot which has opened and runs until Friday 24th September.
Unite in Health are recommending to Pharmacist members to vote to say no to 3% and yes to action in the indicative industrial action ballots which takes place simultaneously alongside the consultative ballot.
If you have not yet received a ballot, via the email that Unite have sent to you (check Junk/Spam), please email healthsector@unitetheunion.org as soon as possible, with your full name and membership number.
