GHP elects Rob Connah as new President

,

Guild Council has elected Mr Rob Connah as the next President of the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists. Rob will now serve as President-Elect during the final months of Mr Nathan Burley’s presidency as a transition period. Responding to the news, Rob gave the following statement:

I am honoured to become President-Elect of the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists and I am committed to ensuring we continue to support our members in the current climate of challenges and change within the NHS.

The Guild has a duty to protect its members’ interests and promote the profession of pharmacy in an increasingly expanding and turbulent healthcare ecosystem. It’s essential that the Guild engage with you, our membership, to construct outputs of work traction and to address the key challenges facing pharmacists across the UK as we enter a dynamic political and professional landscape.

I would like to thank our current President, Nathan Burley, for the work he has done steering the strategic direction of the Guild and I am pleased that he will remain on the Executive Council as Immediate Past President. I would also like to thank our NOPC (Guild Council) for the incredible work they are doing representing our members’ interests across the UK.

Diolch yn fawr / Thank you very much,

Rob Connah

Rob is a specialist pharmacist in psychiatry working across North Wales. He developed the pharmacy service within the Liaison Psychiatry Team in Wales’ largest health board, and operates as an independent prescriber in this multi-disciplinary setting. In addition, he supports core pharmacy services and leads on local psychiatry guideline development.

Rob comes from a secondary care background and is thus acutely aware of the pressure pharmacists face in an expanding and turbulent healthcare ecosystem.

He previously occupied the Chair of Regional Members position on the Executive Guild Council and led Guild developments within Wales. He is committed to supporting members in the current climate of challenges and change within the NHS and his experience steering the strategic direction of the Guild in Wales will greatly compliment the role of President as he expands his focus nationally.
